Characteristics: |
Ductile, shiny, silver-white metal, softer than lead. Soluble in acids. Insoluble in alkalies. Corrosion-resistant at room temperatures, but oxidizes readily at higher temperatures. Non toxic. |
Production Methods: |
Indium is a very soft, silvery-white, highly ductile, relatively rare metal with a bright luster,it is chemically similar to Gallium and Thallium. Indium is recovered from either flue dusts, slags & lead drosses produced as a by product of electrolytic zinc plant residues, further purification is done by electrolysis method. |
Applications: |
Indium could be used in different fields, according to its purity. Primarily used in fusible alloys, solders and flat panel display coatings |
