Sodium sulfite is an inorganic compound. It is a white granular powder at room temperature, stable in drying and sensitive to moisture. Soluble in water and glycerin, insoluble in ethanol, the aqueous solution is alkaline. It can be used as a developer, a preservative for preparing cellulose sulfite, sodium thiosulfate, dried fruits and meat, a deoxidizer in the printing and dyeing industry, and a reducing chemical reagent.
