Glycol is an organic compound with chemical formula C3H8O2. It is miscible with water, ethanol and many organic solvents. Normally, it is a colorless viscous liquid, almost tasteless and slightly sweet.  glycol can be used as a raw material in unsaturated polyester resins and as a wetting agent with glycerin or sorbitol in cosmetics, toothpaste and soaps. It is used in hair colorants as a moisture-regulating and smoothing agent, as an antifreeze, as well as in cellophane, plasticizer and pharmaceutical industry.
